The Director of Ozona Consulting, Diego Berea, writes in the Spanish standardization magazine UNE about the latest edition of ISO 20000. Compared to previous versions, the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 is less prescriptive. It focuses on describing the requirements that an adequate management system should have, leaving aside the instructions on how to achieve such adequacy. As a result, the standard has gained flexibility and is now applicable in a greater number of companies of different sizes and with more or less access to certain IT resources. Furthermore, the new ISO 20000-1:2018 follows its own path. That is, the new version of the standard is compatible with any framework, and not just with ITIL.
