Spain gets its own chapter in the BCI

On August 3, the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) announced the launch of its new chapter for Spain, the BCI Spain Chapter. Ozona Consulting has participated in its creation and is one of its promoters. Moreover, Uxía Fernández, Head of Business Continuity at Ozona, holds a seat in the committee.

A new chapter for Spain at the most opportune time

The process for creating of the chapter took several months, during which members of the BCI and a group of volunteers, including individuals from Ozona Consulting’s Business Continuity team, organized several events and webinars for other professionals working in the sector.

It was only a matter of time until the BCI launched a chapter for Spain, where it has already been working for some time. But the recent covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for a forum where business continuity professionals can exchange opinions, experiences and strategies. Moreover, the creation BCI Spain Chapter will contribute to promote the importance of good business continuity management within organizations.

Roles and objectives of the BCI Spain Chapter

Regarding its main objectives, the new chapter aims to become the main group of reference for business continuity matters in Spain. It also hopes to promote the use of good practices as outlined in the BCI’s Good Practice Guidelines. To achieve this, the chapter will organize training and awareness events in order to attract new members and keep existing members and other interested parties informed about industry trends.

Furthermore, the BCI Spain Chapter has its own LinkedIn group. This group will share information about the BCI in general and the chapter’s activities in specific. It will also provide other relevant information related to business continuity. Members of the group will be able to exchange ideas and get in touch with other industry experts and with representatives from key organizations, such as certain government departments (local and national), associations, educational institutions, etc.

About the BCI

The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) is the leading business continuity institution in the world. It is a non-profit organization that was founded in the United Kingdom in 1994. Currently, it has more than 8.000 members in more than 100 countries. Its goal is to help organizations become more resilient and better prepared to face any incident that comes their way. In this regard, The BCI prepares the Good Practice Guidelines and provides training and certification opportunities. It also hosts awareness-raising events and contributes to research in the field of business continuity.

At Ozona, we are glad that we could collaborate with the BCI in the creation of its chapter for Spain. We look forward to new opportunities to work together in the future.
